What does G.I. JOE stand for?

What does G.I. JOE stand for?

Aha! You saw the G.I. JOE rise of the cobra movie trailer huh or you have heard about the next big hit G.I JOE Rise of the Cobra Movie which will be release August 7, 2009 US. Alright! Let's get into the bandwagon.

It's funny because I've look forward to see great cartoons that we love to watch as a child will be on the screen as a full length movie. I guess it's pretty obvious that everyone now is looking at cartoons, t.v shows and make them into movie like, transformer and transformer 2 revenge of the fallen which was great and I saw it from FREE.

My G.I. JOE history

I have my share of G.I. JOE action figures myself sadly it's not mine really it's my favorite cousins collection, this G.I. JOE action figure were bought from the US, it was way back 1992-1993 but the toys are way older around 1980's. It's pretty cool really because you can be their elbows and niece, they have each specialize weapon, what I have before is the complete line of the GI JOE characters and 1 cobra which is Storm Shadow (white Ninja) which at first I thought member of the G.I. JOE (I played and destroyed the toy before I I saw the t.v series). So sad to say I was able to destroy all those precious G.I. JOE toys before I finish my grade school. I had hell of fun throwing , burying, torching and breaking them off. I was like in 3rd grade then so don't punish me.

What does G.I. JOE stand for?

What does G.I. JOE stand for? Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, an international co-ed force of operatives who use hi-tech equipment to battle Cobra, an evil organization headed by a double-crossing Scottish arms dealer.
This is really cool, most of the people I know is looking forward for Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, as for me its only Baroness and Scarlet.

G.I JOE is a Highly trained, classified special operations unit comprised of men and woman from around the globe. Officially, these warriors don’t exist. Few knows the truth that G.I. JOE Fights a secret war, as the first and last line of defense against forces that seek to plunge our world into chaos. Wherever there is trouble, G.I. JOE is there.

The truth behind GI's

GI or G.I. is a term describing members of the U.S. armed forces or items of their equipment. It may be used as an adjective or as a noun. The term is often thought to be an initialism of "Government Issue" or "General Infantry" but actually refers to galvanized iron. The letters "G.I." used to denote equipment made from galvanized iron, such as metal trash cans, in U.S. Army inventories and supply records.[1][2] During World War I, U.S. soldiers sardonically referred to incoming German artillery shells as "GI cans". Somehow it was later assumed that "GI" stood for "Government Issue". The term was later applied to all military equipment, then to the soldiers themselves.[2]

The term reached its apex with the deployment of American troops during World War II. However, the term G.I. was always used much more by civilians and the media than it was by Army soldiers themselves. By the time of the Korean War, the term was largely restricted to use by the press, war correspondents in particular.
